In 2017, we were blessed to be able to purchase Jon's grandparents' home and a few acres after his grandma passed away. For the last decade of her life, we had rented the home across the road from her, so it was special to be able to move into her place - the home Jon's mom grew up in. We call our place Papa's Farm after Jon's grandpa who was a dairy farmer until he passed away in the '80s. We are enjoying seeing life grow in each and every corner of these 8 acres! Suzan is passionate about raising your next best friend! The new life of puppies being born and starting to develop is amazing to witness! She, along with the kids, make every effort to provide the early stimulation and experiences puppies need to prepare them to be a blessing to your family for years to come. Jon is a carpenter by trade, but one year after his carpentry job had dried up, he worked for a chemical company. The position required him to study and work towards obtaining his pesticide applicator license. Going through the materials opened his eyes to the way our food is being grown! At the same time, our daughter Hannah began studying food as medicine and how the body processes different nutrients, fats, proteins, etc. She became passionate about changing our diet, tweaking recipes, and introducing us to healthier options. As our gardens have gradually expanded, so has the diversity of vegetation we've learned to grow. Along with over 5,400 square feet of no-till garden beds, we've planted more than 75 raspberry plants and a collection of fruit trees. We are experimenting with natural simple gardening approaches using a mixture of organic and permaculture principals. Life on the vibrant acres of Papa's Farm is a blessing for our family and our golden retrievers to enjoy each day! |
