Our love for raising chickens began well over a decade ago, when we got our first little flock of Barred Rocks and Rhode Island Reds. We quickly fell in love with our newfound hobby! We loved hearing the rooster crow in the mornings, going out to gather the eggs, and watching each of our kids learn responsibility and joy of caring for their own farm animals.

We also learned how important it is to ensure our chickens are safe by locking them up in the night, as well as keeping them comfortable during the day by providing them adequate run space and a clean bedding. As a carpenter, Jon saw the need to create a coop which was fully predator-proof as well as functional. We began to notice that most commercially built chicken coops available on the market weren't built with quality materials and did not provide the chickens enough space for even very small flocks. Seeing the opportunity for improvement, Jon began designing.
